Mei Hong Lin

Mei Hong Lin (* 1959 in Luodong , Yilan County , Taiwan ) is a Taiwanese dancer and choreographer .

life and work

Mei Hong Lin completed a classical Chinese dance training. She danced in the Lanyang Dance Troupe in Taiwan. Then she went to Europe. Lin studied at the Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome, then at the Folkwang University in Essen with Pina Bausch . From 1991 to 1992 she headed the dance department of the Plauen-Zwickau Theater as ballet director , from 1997 to 2002 Mei Hong Lin was in the ballet directorate at Theater Dortmund . From 2004 to 2005 she was the dance director at the Staatstheater Darmstadt . Mei Hong Lin has been the artistic director of TANZLIN.Z at the Landestheater Linz since 2013 . The choreographer has been invited to international festivals, for example in 2010 with the piece Schwanengesang to the Taipei International Festival in Taiwan, in 2014 with Blind Date to Korea and in 2016 with Orfeo ed Euridice to the 14th International Opera Festival in Daegu (Korea), where the production was awarded the Grand Prix. In 2017 and 2018 she received the Austrian Music Theater Prize for her productions. Mei Hong Lin also directed and created choreographies for opera, operetta, musical and drama. She has created productions for the theaters in Augsburg, Bielefeld, Innsbruck, Kaiserslautern, Linz, Schwerin, Rostock, the Leipzig Opera and the Leipzig Theater , the Dresden State Operetta , the Toulon Opera, the Teatro Real Madrid, the Gothenburg Opera and the Erfurt DomStufen Festival .
