Austrian Music Theater Prize
The Austrian Music Theater Prize has been awarded since 2013 for outstanding achievements in opera , operetta , musical and ballet .
The president and founder of the ÖMTP is Kons. Karl-Michael Ebner is the responsible producer of the award for the Art Projekt association.
The price
The award was initiated by Karl-Michael Ebner in 2012. The Austrian Music Theater Prize is organized by the Art Projekt association. Numerous private sponsors finance this project. The statue of the Austrian Music Theater Award is divided into a total of 20 categories.
All performing artists at the Austrian city, state and federal theaters as well as festivals are eligible, whereby each stage can submit one nomination per category. The winners will be selected from a jury of independent cultural journalists. In 2017 the Austrian Federal Chancellery took part for the first time and organized an off-theater award. The special prize for the best choir or the best orchestra is to be awarded alternately to one of the two ensembles.

Since 2017, the international jury has consisted of experienced cultural journalists who guarantee a broad perspective on the diverse facets of music theater and is made up of representatives from the leading Austrian print and radio media.

The third award of the Austrian Music Theater Prize took place on June 8, 2015 in the Ronacher and was moderated by Christoph Wagner-Trenkwitz . The award was broadcast to ORF III on June 14, 2015 .
