Bergman was born as Amra Rašikadić in Sarajevo, left her hometown with her mother shortly after the outbreak of war in 1992, came to Altötting and continued her education at the private grammar school of the English Misses . In 1993 she passed the entrance exam for piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts “Mozarteum” in Salzburg, where she studied until 1998. After graduating from high school in the summer of 1998, she worked as an extra at the Salzburg Festival . She then completed her stage design studies in the Erich Wonder class at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna . Wonder hired her as an assistant in 1999 and as a co-set designer in 2001. As such, she built sets for a number of productions at major opera houses - including the Zurich Opera , the Württemberg State Opera in Stuttgart and the Salzburg Festival. In 2005 she graduated with honors.

In parallel to her studies, from 2002 she also worked as a freelance designer at the Salzburg State Theater and the Bochum Theater . In addition to building up her fashion company, she also devoted herself to a number of theater productions, was hired by Herbert Föttinger and Heribert Sasse at the Vienna Theater in der Josefstadt , and subsequently also worked for the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna, at the Mörbisch Seefestspiele , in Vienna State Opera , Opera in the St. Margarethen Quarry and Life Ball 2017/18 in Vienna.

Two productions attracted particular attention:

In 2010 she designed the set for the musical at the cabaret by Joe Masteroff , Fred Ebb and John Kander at the Kammerspiele Vienna . Werner Sobotka staged it . The Wiener Zeitung praised the "bizarre-intimate [.] Basement look. That can easily compete with the over-engineered musical halls. ”This production was also shown in the Reithalle in Munich in 2013, as a production by the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz , and there was also enthusiastic approval from the public and the press.

Bergman's angel received high emotional approval for Robert Dornhelm's Tosca production at the St. Margarethen Opera Festival in 2015. The 25-meter-high figure had feathers that could open up and reveal the stage. In Portrait , the magazine for art, culture and lifestyle, she described "her boy" as follows:

“So he is an angel, architecture, sculpture, a messenger of death, he points to heaven and reaches for something, he also symbolizes freedom with his large wings, which is also continued in the costumes. It also looks like it has been resting in the quarry for ages, as if it belongs to it. Since I wanted the set to blend in with the landscape, it is processed as if it was rusted and in the quarry for ages. "

Fashion

Due to the high demand for her costumes, Bergmann began with the first custom-made products for private customers in 2003 and was invited as the first Austrian finalist to the Diesel fashion competition in Trieste in the same year . A series of fashion shows and design assignments followed. In 2005, Amra Bergman founded her own label: AMRA OT COUTURE. The label's headquarters and showroom are in Vienna's First District . AMRA especially designs exclusive outfits for stars and international artists, for example for Andris Nelsons .

In 2012 she was one of the top 33 migrants presented by the Austrian migration magazine Biber .

In 2015 she opened a new shop at Liliengasse 2 / Singerstrasse 8, where she sells Viennese checked collections, casual and couture collections, as well as preparing her stage productions.
