Martina Serafin (born April 4, 1970 in Vienna ) is an Austrian opera singer ( soprano ).

Life

Martina Serafin received her vocal training at the Vienna Conservatory with Hilde Zadek , Otto Edelmann and Sigrid Martikke .

In 1994 she made her debut at the Mörbisch Seefestspiele in the operetta Wiener Blut in the role of Countess Zedlau, where she later appeared in the begging student as Laura, in the gypsy baron as Saffi and in Parisian Leben and the bird dealer . From 1995 to 2000 she was engaged at the Graz Opera House . In 2005 she made her debut at the Vienna State Opera as Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni . In the following years she was seen there as Feldmarschallin in Rosenkavalier , as Sieglinde in Die Walküre and in the title role of Tosca . In 2007 she sang Lisa in the premiere of Queen of Spades at the State Opera .

Guest engagements have taken her to the San Francisco Opera , the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London and La Scala in Milan . As a concert singer she has performed at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam , the Berlin Philharmonie , the Wiener Musikverein and the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome. In August 2018 she sang the first act from Die Walküre at the Grafenegg Festival alongside Jonas Kaufmann and Falk Struckmann .

Martina Serafin is the daughter of the soprano Mirjana Irosch and the singer and artistic director Harald Serafin . Her half-brother is the baritone Daniel Serafin . She is married to the bass player Alessandro Guerzoni and lives in Italy.
