Daniel Serafin
Daniel Serafin (born October 17, 1981 in Vienna ) is a German-Austrian cultural manager and artistic director of the opera in the St. Margarethen quarry . From 2013 to 2017 he was the organizer and producer of the Austrian Music Theater Prize . Since 2016 he has been artistic director of the Viennese Opera Ball New York . In autumn 2017 Daniel Serafin took over the management of cultural marketing at Esterhazy Kulturbetriebe.
Life
Daniel Serafin is the son of the Austrian chamber singer Harald Serafin and Inge Serafin. He currently lives in Vienna and New York City . His half-sister is the soprano Martina Serafin .
After completing the Matura at the Vienna International School studied Daniel Serafin singing and acting u. a. at the Mozarteum Salzburg, at the Vienna Conservatory and at the Juilliard School in New York, where he completed his studies with a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Arts and Cultural Management. In 2016 Serafin took over the artistic direction of the Viennese Opera Ball New York , which takes place annually.
Helmuth Lohner brought him to the Wiener Kammerspiele and the Theater in der Josefstadt, where he was a member of the ensemble in the 2004/2005 season. He worked u. a. with Academy Award winners Maximilian Schell , Ferruccio Soleri, Herbert Föttinger , Helmuth Lohner, Brigitte Fassbaender and Otto Schenk .
Daniel Serafin has appeared in various opera and concert halls around the world. He has a wide- ranging opera and song repertoire, which ranges from classical to modern works to crossovers .
In autumn 2012 Serafin made a world tour with his song program Verboten und Verbannt - Entartete Musik , a tango program with the Orchestra National de Argentine under the direction of Leonard Cohen. The performance was Serafin u. a. in New York, Miami, Boston, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Berlin, London, Paris, Istanbul, Rome, Zurich, Shanghai, Bangkok, Bahrain, Tel Aviv and Vienna.
Furthermore, Daniel Serafin appeared at various classical music festivals, e.g. B. at the Seefestspiele Mörbisch and the music festival Steyr in summer 2014 in the operetta Die Fledermaus als Eisenstein.
In 2014 Serafin went on a world tour with his solo programs Danny Plays and American Songbook .
In 2014 Daniel Serafin stood as a candidate in the dance show Dancing Stars on ORF one .
In autumn 2017 Daniel Serafin took over the management of cultural marketing at the Esterhazy group of companies . In January 2019 he was appointed Artistic Director of the Opera in the Quarry by Stefan Ottrubay , General Director of the Esterhazy Group .
social commitment
Since 2010, Daniel Serafin has appeared annually at Licht ins Dunkel and supports the organization with donations.
In the fall of 2012, after Hurricane Sandy , he donated all of the ticket sales from his US tour to the American Red Cross in order to show solidarity.
Daniel Serafin has been president and board member of the Friends of Schlossquartier Eisenstadt association and the Friends of the Opera in the Quarry since autumn 2017 .
