Mirjana Irosch
Mirjana Irosch (born October 24, 1939 in Zagreb , Kingdom of Yugoslavia ) is an Austrian opera and operetta singer ( soprano ).
Life
Mirjana Irosch studied at the Zagreb Conservatory . She received her first engagement as a mezzo-soprano in Linz in 1962 , where she made her debut as Mercedes in Carmen . In the following years she had further engagements at the Ulm Theater (1962–1965) and at the City Theater Bern (1962–1965).
In 1967 Irosch was engaged at the Vienna Volksoper , where she made her debut in October 1967 as Judith in Bartók's one-act opera Duke Bluebeard's Castle . Her first premiere role at the Vienna Volksoper was in December 1967, then still as a mezzo-soprano, as Ilka in Háry János . In 1968 she took over Angelina in La Cenerentola at the Volksoper, in German , at the side of her future husband Harald Serafin . In the 1970s, Mirjana Irosch became a celebrated operetta diva at the Vienna Volksoper. In the 1980/81 season she was a “great cocotte” Metella at the Vienna Volksoper in a new production of the Offenbach operetta Pariser Leben (premiere: February 1981, director: Helmut Baumann ). In the 1980/81 season she also took on the female lead in a new production of the operetta The Hungarian Wedding (premiere: March 1981, director: Robert Herzl ); she was the "somewhat rebellious Janka, but who also had tender tones on the rich vocal range".
However, Irosch also sang opera roles again and again, e.g. B. 1983 the Blanchefleur in Der Kuhreigen by Wilhelm Kienzl , 1984 the Musette in La Bohème in the "unsentimental, illusion-free" and "bitter" production by Harry Kupfer and in the 1986/87 season the georgette in Der Mantel . In the 1990/91 season she sang in the folk opera double premieres in the operas A Florentine Tragedy (Bianca) and The Dwarf (Gouvernante Ghita) by Alexander von Zemlinsky . Irosch had a total of over 1,280 appearances at the Vienna Volksoper in around 50 roles in the opera, operetta and musical repertoire.
In 1982 Mirjana Irosch made a guest appearance in Japan with the ensemble of the Vienna Volksoper . On this tour she sang Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus and Hanna Glawari in The Merry Widow . At the end of the 1990s she changed her subject back to the mezzo subject (inter alia as Czipra in Der Zigeunerbaron ); Finally, she successfully took on comic roles in the character field at the festival in Seefestspiele Mörbisch and at the Vienna Volksoper.
From 2002 Mirjana Irosch u. a. as Peronella in Boccaccio , as Countess Palmatica in Der Bettelstudent (Premiere: February 2002) and as Sister Bertha in The Sound of Music (Premiere: February 2005) on the stage of the Vienna Volksoper . On October 2, 2007, the Vienna Volksoper celebrated Irosch's 40th stage anniversary with a gala performance by Countess Mariza , in which she played the role of Princess Bozena; she had played this role since the premiere in December 2002. From 2007 she also played Praskowia in the operetta The Merry Widow at the Vienna Volksoper . In the 2008/09 season she was also on stage in the role of Praskowia. On her 70th birthday in October 2009, the Vienna Volksoper organized a festival performance of the operetta The Merry Widow , in which she again took over the Praskowia.
Irosch was a guest a. at the Vienna State Opera (January 1976; as Rosalinde), at the Graz Opera House , at the Frankfurt Opera , at the Zurich Opera House , at the Basel Theater and at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels . In the summer of 1980 she sang an “unrivaled” Hanna Glawari in the Lehár operetta The Merry Widow at the Theater an der Wien .
Irosch had a “radiant, voluminous voice” with “effortless height” and a mezzo primer.
Irosch was appointed Austrian Chamber Singer in 1981 . She has been an honorary member of the Vienna Volksoper since 1992 . Her daughter Martina Serafin , from her marriage to Harald Serafin, is also a soprano.
