Falk Struckmann (* 1958 in Heilbronn ) is a German opera singer ( bass baritone ).

Life

He made his debut in Kiel in 1985 . Since his breakthrough with the Kurwenal in Richard Wagner's Tristan und Isolde at the Bayreuth Festival in 1993, he has been in great demand as a Wagner singer. In Bayreuth he could also be heard as Donner in the Ring production by Alfred Kirchner under the direction of James Levine , as Amfortas and in 2006 as Wotan and Wanderer in Der Ring des Nibelungen , directed by Tankred Dorst under the direction of Christian Thielemann . He is a chamber singer of the Vienna State Opera . Struckmann has appearances at almost all major opera houses such as B. the State Operas in Berlin , Hamburg , Munich and Vienna, at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona , at Covent Garden in London , the Milan Scala , the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the Opéra National Paris . From October 19, 2008 he sang Wotan in the new production of Die Walküre at the Hamburg State Opera, directed by Claus Guth and conducted by Simone Young .
