Bo Skovhus
Boje Skovhus (born May 22, 1962 in Ikast , Denmark ) is a Danish opera singer ( baritone ).
Life
Skovhus studied at the Aarhus Music Institute , the Royal Opera Academy in Copenhagen and in New York . His career as a singer began in 1988 in Vienna at the Volksoper . Vienna is still the center of his artistic work. For over 10 years there has been a close connection with the State Opera , where he can be heard regularly as a guest. He is repeatedly engaged for recitals and concerts both in the Musikverein and in the Konzerthaus . In 1997 the artist was awarded the title of Austrian Chamber Singer .
Skovhus performs at major opera houses and with leading orchestras in Europe, America and Japan. He also devotes a large part of his time to song singing . He is one of the most important interpreters of his generation and is repeatedly invited by all major festivals and music centers around the world.
His operatic repertoire includes roles such as Don Giovanni , Count Almaviva in nozze Le Figaro , Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte , Olivier and Count in Capriccio , the barber in The Silent Woman , Wozzeck , Hamlet , Billy Budd and Eugene Onegin , Jelezki in Pique Dame , Danilo in The Merry Widow , Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus , Wolfram in Tannhäuser , Kurwenal in Tristan and Isolde , Amfortas in Parsifal , Rodrigue in the French version by Don Carlos and Frank and Fritz / Pierrot in Die tote Stadt . In 2010 he sang the title role of Colonel Chabert at the Deutsche Oper Berlin (as a concert performance).
The focus of his extensive concert repertoire is on the works of Gustav Mahler , the Scandinavian composers as well as Frank Martin's Jedermann monologues and Zemlinsky's Lyric Symphony .
Skovhus is married and has one daughter.

- 2015 Austrian Music Theater Award - “Goldener Schikaneder” in the category “Best Male Supporting Role” for the role of Nick Shadow in The Rake's Progress at the Theater an der Wien
