Dshamilja Kaiser (born in Wuppertal ) is a German opera singer with a mezzo-soprano voice . She has been employed at the Bonn Opera since 2017 .

life and work

Kaiser studied singing at the Detmold University of Music with Mechthild Böhme and Caroline Thomas. During her studies she sang in university productions of Handel and Rossini operas and made guest appearances as Lisetta in Haydn's Il mondo della luna at the Munster Municipal Theaters . She won singing competitions and was a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation and the Richard Wagner Foundation . In July 2007 she completed her studies with the artistic maturity examination - as Carmen in a university performance at the Landestheater Detmold . This was followed by a permanent engagement at the Bielefeld Theater , where she sang Scarlatti, Mozart and Glinka, among others, as well as guest appearances at the Münster Theater , the Mecklenburg State Theater Schwerin , the State Theater Linz and the Aaltotheater Essen .

The mezzo-soprano has been part of the Graz Opera ensemble since the 2009/10 season . There she sang a number of leading roles, in particular rivals of the heroines or trouser roles - from Baroque and Mozart to Belcanto to Richard Wagner - and worked there with well-known directors and conductors, including Stefan Herheim and Stefan Soltesz .

At the Wiener Festwochen 2012 Kaiser appeared as Annina in Verdi's La traviata , in July 2013 at Operklosterneuburg as Frau Reich in Nicolai's Lustige Weibern von Windsor , in January 2014 she made her debut at the Volksoper Vienna in the title role of Bizet's Carmen . In the Haus am Gürtel she subsequently sang Dorabella in Mozart's Così fan tutte . In summer 2016, she made her debut at the Bregenz Festival as Gertrude in a long-lost Hamlet opera from 1865 - in Franco Faccio's Amleto . Her partners were Pavel Černoch in the title role , Iulia Maria Dan as Ophelia and Claudio Sgura as Claudio. It staged Olivier Tambosi , it conducted Paolo Carignani .

In the concert hall, Kaiser sings both concert operas and large choral orchestral works. In November 2013 she made a guest appearance with the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Dirk Kaftan in the Wiener Musikverein , where she sang the song cycle Les nuits d'été by Hector Berlioz based on poems by Théophile Gautier . In February 2015 she took over Judit in Bartók's Duke Bluebeard's Castle in a concert performance by the Orchestra sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi under the direction of Gaetano d'Espinosa in Milan .
