Jochen Schmeckenbecher

Jochen Schmeckenbecher (* 1967 in Hockenheim ) is a German opera singer ( baritone ).

Life

Schmeckenbecher received his training from Kurt Moll at the Cologne University of Music and from Richard Cross in New York. After permanent engagements at the Hagen Theater (1990–1993) and the Komische Oper Berlin (1993–1995), the singer is now a freelance artist and has already made guest appearances at many major theaters in Europe, in the USA and also in Tokyo. His roles range from Papageno in the Magic Flute to the Pizzaro in Fidelio , Beckmesser in the Meistersinger , Klingsor in Parsifal to the title role in Alban Berg's Wozzeck . He also worked in operas by Schubert , Verdi , Puccini , Richard Strauss , but also as Dr. Falcon in bat with.

Schmeckenbecher sang under famous conductors such as Daniel Barenboim , Nikolaus Harnoncourt , Giuseppe Sinopoli and Simone Young . His work is available on numerous CD and DVD recordings.

His younger brother Markus Brück is also a baritone. He belongs to the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper Berlin and is a Berliner Kammersänger. An older brother took his own life.
