Matthias Davids

Matthias Davids (born July 19, 1962 in Münster ) is a German director who is best known for his musical productions. Since December 2012 he has been artistic director of the newly established musical section at the Landestheater Linz .

Life

Davids studied musicology, German and speech training at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . He lives in Linz / Austria and in Ermioni / Greece.

He played leading roles in musical theater productions, including the title role in Jesus Christ Superstar , Action in West Side Story and Vince Fontaine in Grease , before turning to directing. He has worked in Düsseldorf, Cologne, Hanover, Mannheim, Graz, Zurich, Athens, Oslo, Vienna, Berlin, Nuremberg, Munich a. v. a. Staged over eighty operas, musicals and plays.

From 2012, Matthias Davids built up the new musical division at the Landestheater Linz as director. The division was opened with the Austrian premiere of Die Hexen von Eastwick in the newly built Musiktheater Linz . The German-language premiere of Ghost - Message from Sam at the Musiktheater Linz was co-produced by Stage Entertainment and ran ensuite for one year at the Berlin Stage Theater des Westens and then four months at the Hamburg Operettenhaus and six months at the Stuttgart Palladium Theater.
