Elisabeth Alexandrine Auguste Bertha Margarete Freiin von Maltzahn , also: Else von Maltzahn (born January 24, 1868 in Rühn , † February 25, 1945 in Gotenhafen ) was a German writer .

Life

Elisabeth von Maltzahn was the daughter of the forester Bogislav von Maltzahn. She spent her childhood and youth in Schwerin ; later she lived in Wernigerode in the Harz Mountains . In 1915 she married the Protestant pastor and publicist Ernst Friedrich Wilhelm Wengel, in Godesberg the magazine "Cross and force" published . Both spouses died in early 1945 while fleeing East Prussia : shortly after the death of her husband in the East Prussian town of Rauschen , Elisabeth von Maltzahn died at the end of February 1945 on the refugee ship Deutschland anchored in Gotenhafen and was buried in a mass grave in Gotenhafen.

Elisabeth von Maltzahn published novels , short stories and poems . Her narrative works, which were widely read at the time, are mostly set in their Mecklenburg homeland.
