Elise Laverick

Elise Mary Laverick (after marriage to Sherwell; born July 27, 1975 in Rustington ) is a former British rower . She won the Olympic bronze medal in double sculls in 2004 and 2008 .

Athletic career

The 1.78 m tall Laverick began rowing in 1992. In 1996 she won the one the bronze medal at the U23 World Championships . In 1997 she moved up to the British national rowing team and won the bronze medal at the world championships with eighth . 1998 started Laverick in the quadruple sculls . After three A-finals in the Rowing World Cup , tenth place at the 1998 World Championships was a setback. In 1999 and 2000 Laverick rowed again in the British eighth, with which she finished seventh at the 2000 Olympic Games .

In 2001 Laverick was back in the quadruple scull, with which she reached fifth place at the World Championships , followed by seventh place in the single scull in Seville in 2002 , and fourth place with the quadruple scull in Milan in 2003 . In 2004 she and Sarah Winckless switched to the double scull , with which they both won the bronze medal behind the boats from New Zealand and Germany at the 2004 Olympic Games .

In 2005 Laverick rowed a double scull with Debbie Flood , and the two finished fifth at the World Championships . In 2006 Laverick rowed eighth in the British and was eighth in the World Championship . In 2007 she formed a new double scull with Anna Bebington ; In this line-up, Elise Laverick succeeded ten years after her bronze medal with the eighth, the second medal win at world championships , when Laverick and Bebington reached the goal behind two Chinese women and the New Zealand Olympic champions of 2004. In 2008 Laverick and Bebington won the last World Cup regatta in Lucerne. At the 2008 Olympic Games , the two Britons received the bronze medal behind the New Zealanders and the German boat.
