Ellen Arnhold

Ellen Simkovics ; formerly Ellen Arnhold , (born February 8, 1961 in Saarbrücken ) is a German television presenter and news anchor for the ARD Tagesschau .

Life

After completing her apprenticeship as a graphic designer, Ellen Arnhold began studying history and art history . From 1982 to 1995 she was a freelance announcer and presenter at SR , SDR and SWR , since 1987 she has only appeared there occasionally. In 1984 she moderated together with Sammy Davis Jr. the Paris UNICEF gala. In the mid-1990s, she moderated the Schleswig-Holstein magazine and the Berliner Abendschau for about a year .

Since 1987 Ellen Arnhold was the spokeswoman for the ARD-Tagesschau. She was the last spokeswoman recruited by long-time chief spokesman Karl-Heinz Köpcke before his retirement. She is (as of 2017) the longest-serving spokeswoman for the Tagesschau after Jan Hofer . In her first marriage, Ellen Arnhold was married to the radio presenter Martin Arnhold. On November 26th, 2004 she married the hotel manager Stefan Simkovics. At the beginning of 2005, Ellen Arnhold moved to Beijing with Simkovics, later to Beirut and only returned to Hamburg at ever increasing intervals. Her last 8pm mission was on August 4, 2014, her last appearance on a news program on March 29, 2015. Since March 2015, Ellen Arnhold has been taking a break from the news. A return is possible according to the Tagesschau editorial team.
