Elliott Leslie Ward (born January 19, 1985 in Harrow , London ) is an English football player . His brother Darren also became a professional footballer in England.

Club career

West Ham United

Ward joined West Ham United in 2001 as a youth player and moved up to the professional squad in 2003. In the 2004/05 season he was briefly loaned to Peterborough United and the Bristol Rovers . In the second half of the season he came to his first appearances for West Ham, mainly due to the injuries of defenders Christian Dailly and Malky Mackay . At the side of Anton Ferdinand , West Ham lost only one of eleven league games and thus reached the promotion playoffs to the Premier League . There he was also used in all three games and managed to return to the English football club with West Ham.

At the beginning of the 2005/06 season, West Ham signed, among other things, defenders Danny Gabbidon and James Collins , which Ward fell out of the regular formation. In the following years he hardly came to missions and so he was awarded for a total of three months to the second division club Plymouth Argyle . In February 2006 he returned to West Ham and came to three more appearances in the Premier League by the end of the season.

Coventry City

Although Ward had only signed a new four-year contract with West Ham in August 2005, he moved to second division Coventry City for a million pounds in the summer of 2006 , where he signed a contract until 2010. Ward was the first million transfer for Coventry City since the signing of Lee Hughes in 2001. Under manager Iain Dowie , Ward was Coventry's captain from February 2007 until the end of the season.

Norwich City

Since May 26, 2010 Elliott Ward is under contract with Norwich City . In the Football League Championship 2010/11 , the promoted team with regular Ward (39 games / 1 goal) reached promotion to the Premier League as runner-up .

On October 26, 2012 Ward moved to the second division Nottingham Forest for two months on loan .

Bournemouth AFC

On June 18, 2013 Ward signed a one-year contract with second division promoted AFC Bournemouth .
