Elmar Gehlen
Elmar Gehlen (born August 14, 1943 in Cologne ) is a German actor and director .
Life
Gehlen trained as a graphic designer and decorator before successfully completing an acting course. He switched to directing at an early age and staged numerous plays and operas on German theaters, a. a. at the Staatstheater Kassel . In addition to directing and acting, he has already written and performed his own plays. The passionate sailor also devotes himself to painting and sculpture.
Gehlen became known to a broad television audience through the role of the machinist Wolfgang Unterbaur in the ZDF series Coast Guard , which he embodied in the first 14 TV seasons. Gehlen also directed some series episodes.
Elmar Gehlen is married and the father of the actress Johanna Christine Gehlen . He lives in the Pelzerhaken district of Neustadt (Holstein) , where the Coast Guard television series was recorded.
