Elmar Thyen

Elmar Thyen (born July 19, 1965 in Münster ) is a German journalist and was editor-in-chief of the local radio antenna Unna from 1997 to 2009 .

Life

After graduating from high school in Siegen , he studied journalism at the University of Dortmund and volunteered at Ruhr Nachrichten in Bottrop , Gelsenkirchen and Lünen in 1986/87 . From 1988 to 1991 Thyen worked for WDR and other ARD stations and switched to local radio when Antenne Unna started broadcasting in October 1991. As a member of the IG Medien tariff commissionThyen was involved in the negotiations of the first collective agreement for private broadcasting in 1992. He was also a member of the trade union negotiating committee for the collective agreement for local radio in North Rhine-Westphalia, which was concluded in 1993 after a strike that had lasted for weeks. From 1997 to 2009 Thyen headed the editorial team at Antenne Unna .

From April 2009 to the end of June 2017 he was Head of Corporate Communications at Trianel . In July 2017 he became head of corporate communications and strategic marketing in the Wuppertaler Stadtwerke group of companies, with its individual companies WSW Wuppertaler Stadtwerke GmbH , WSW Energie & Wasser AG and WSW mobil GmbH .

Thyen is married, lives in Stolberg (Rhineland) and has four children.

  • 2001 State Radio Prize NRW - “Information” category (together with Susanne Wahle and Alexa Prozess).
  • 2005 State Radio Prize NRW - in the "Advertising" category for the campaign to stay clean against juvenile delinquency; in the category “communal reporting” for the Antenne Unna concept for the state elections in 2005 (together with Tim Schmutzler).
  • 2007 State Security Prize NRW of the NRW Ministry of the Interior (with the district police authority Unna).
  • 2008 State Radio Prize NRW in the category “Service and Advice”.
