Elmar Treptow

Elmar Treptow (born May 17, 1937 in Hohenseeden ) is a German philosopher and professor emeritus at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .

Life

After graduating from the Meldorfer School of Academics , Treptow studied philosophy and classical philology at the universities of Münster , Hamburg and Munich . After a doctorate and habilitation in 1971 with a paper on Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel and the Young Hegelians , Treptow taught at the Ludwig Maximilians University. Treptow has been interested in the materialist philosophy of Karl Marx and Marxist philosophy since he began teaching . In 1981 Treptow was one of the co-founders of the magazine contradiction - Munich magazine for philosophy .

Treptow has been dealing with the topic of ecological natural aesthetics for several years . His other areas of interest include the history of philosophy as well as Chinese philosophy and Indian philosophy .

Treptow has been retired since 2002 and continues to lead lectures in this capacity.

Treptow has two sons and is married.
