State Prize of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia

The State Prize of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia is a 1986 award of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia that is awarded for outstanding cultural or scientific achievements or outstanding achievements in other areas of life . The winners should be personalities who are connected to the state of North Rhine-Westphalia through their careers or work.

The award is usually given annually. The winners are selected by a committee of up to seven people appointed by the state's prime minister. The prize was originally endowed with 50,000 DM. After the introduction of the euro, the prize money was set at € 25,000 in 2002. The price can be divided among several people.
