Elmo Kassin (born October 13, 1969 in Otepää ) is a former Soviet - Estonian cross-country skier .

Career

Kassin first appeared internationally at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 1989 in Vang . There he won the gold medal with the relay. He ran his first of a total of 54 individual World Cup races in March 1991 in Lahti , which he finished in 47th place over 30 km freestyle . In the 1991/92 season he came three times in the points and achieved 32nd place in the overall World Cup, his best overall placement. He achieved his best individual placement in the World Cup with fifth place in the 30 km freestyle in Thunder Bay . His best results at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville were 18th in the pursuit and tenth in the relay. At the World Championships in Falun in March 1993 , he came in 46th place over 10 km classic , 35th place in pursuit and 29th place over 50 km freestyle. With the season he ran there in 15th place. His best results at the Winter Olympics in Lillehammer the following year were 16th in the 30 km freestyle and 11th in the relay. At the 1995 World Championships in Thunder Bay, he finished 56th in the pursuit, 49th place over 10 km classic and 34th place over 50 km freestyle. His best results at the 1997 World Championships in Trondheim were 32nd place in the pursuit and 11th place in the relay. He completed his last international competitions at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano . There he ran on the 58th place over 10 km classic, on the 43rd place in the subsequent pursuit race and on the tenth place with the relay.
