Elsa Eisgruber

Elsa (Elisabeth) Eisgruber (born March 22, 1887 in Nuremberg ; † December 1, 1968 in Berlin ) was a German painter , author and illustrator .

Life

Elsa Eisgruber studied sculpture at the Städtische Kunstgewerbeschule in Berlin-Charlottenburg under Hans Perathoner and at the art academies in Nuremberg and Munich . She learned to paint by herself.

She preferred to paint religious subjects, wrote and illustrated children's books.

In 1926 Else Eisgruber was recruited as an illustrator by Herbert Stuffer for his newly founded publishing house from the “Bilderbuchfabrik” Stalling and immediately published an important children's book called Sause Kreisel sause .

Her works are compared with works by Elsa Beskow , Ernst Kutzer , Sibylle von Olfers , Else Wenz-Vietor and Fritz Baumgarten .

She was married to Hans Schrott-Fiechtl .
