The Eltanin Bay is a bay at the Bryan Coast of Ellsworthlands . It is located west of the Wirth Peninsula .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it on the basis of its own surveys and with the help of aerial photographs of the United States Navy between 1961 and 1966. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1968 after the icebreaker USNS Eltanin , which was part of the United States Antarctic Research Program during the exploration of the Southern Ocean was used.
