Elvir Laković Laka (born March 15, 1969 in Goražde ), also known by his stage name Laka , is a Bosnian singer. He represented his home country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 in Belgrade .

biography

Elvir Laković Laka was born in Goražde , in the east of Bosnia-Herzegovina. The budding guitarist attended the music academy in his hometown, but did not share the learning methods and perspectives on music there and broke off his studies. He then earned his living as a street musician in Goražde and played a few rock 'n' roll concerts with the band Deformacija poreza, which he founded with school friends .

Laka became known to a wide audience as an individual artist in 1998 through the published song Sam Se Razočar'o , with which he was granted great success in his home country. A year later he won a second place at a music festival with the formation Deformacija poreza and the song Razocaro , whereupon the state television broadcaster TVBiH produced a music video. After further solo projects, in which he was also involved as a songwriter , Laka won the national film award Davorin for best rock song with Moro (2003) . In 2004 he went to New York . The founding of his own band was not crowned with success and two and a half years later he returned to his home country.

In 2007 Laka released his first solo album with ZEC , which later won awards and was also released in Croatia . A year later, a jury gave the title Pokušaj, written by him and interpreted together with his younger sister Mirela, the preference to represent Bosnia-Herzegovina at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 in Belgrade . The pop-rock number, held in the local language, was able to place in the ESC semi-finals on May 20, 2008 among the ten most popular entries, which meant that it entered the ESC final four days later. There Laka finished tenth in the victory of the Russian Dima Bilan .

The artist, who is known for his love of experimentation and a weird kind of humor (at the premiere of his ESC title on Bosnian television, he built in a living rooster and farm boy; in the ESC semifinals, four knitting brides could be seen in the background of the stage), is alive today in Sarajevo .

At the end of 2008 he won the MTV Europe Music Awards in the Best Adria Act category .

In 2010 his second studio album was released with the title Stvorenje .
