Elvira Werner

Elvira Werner (* 1952 in Meißen ) is a German cultural scientist.

After studying English and German at the Humboldt University in Berlin , Werner studied cultural studies . From 1979 she worked as a research assistant in the Folklore Center Erzgebirge / Vogtland , headed by Werner Reinäcker and later by Götz Altmann , of the District Cabinet for Cultural Work Karl-Marx-Stadt in Schneeberg and his legal successors such as the Saxon State Office for Folk Culture and the Saxon State Office for Museum Affairs in Chemnitz , Department of Folk Culture, active. She has been retired since the end of 2015.

Werner published numerous essays and books on topics related to the Saxon-Ore Mountains folk culture , such as lace making , miner's language , folk and amateur play, festival culture, music folklore and the maintenance of the Ore Mountains dialect , among which the band Mundart in the Ore Mountains stands out. She is a member of the editorial board of the Erzgebirgische Heimatblätter and lives in Bermsgrün .
