Emanuel Friedrich von Bredow

Emanuel Friedrich von Bredow (born May 28, 1732 from Gut Senzke ; † January 28, 1780 in Berlin ) was a Prussian colonel and commander of the Gensdarmes regiment . He was the bearer of the Pour le Mérite .

His parents were Kasper Friedrich von Bredow , heir to Senzke, and his second wife Olgard Dorothea, née von Barnewitz. He was the 11th child in the family.

Life

He joined the Prussian army in 1748 and became a cornet in the Gensdarmes regiment on March 20, 1750 . He was wounded in the Battle of Lobositz in 1756, but was promoted to lieutenant on October 3, 1756. On July 17, 1758 he became a staff officer and in 1761 the commander of an Esquadron . On August 20, 1762 he was awarded the order Pour le Mérite for his bravery in the battle of Reichenbach . On September 17, 1764 he became a major and on May 20, 1775 a lieutenant colonel . In 1777 he became a colonel and chief of the regiment. It also fought in the War of the Bavarian Succession , but fell ill during the campaign and had to be treated in a hospital so that he could no longer take part in the fighting. On January 9, 1778, he took his leave. He died on January 28, 1780 in Berlin and was buried in Groß Leuthen Castle.

The Lieutenant Asmus Ehrenreich von Bredow , governor of Kolberg, was his uncle.

family

He had been with Sophie Christine Dorothe von Podewils (1734–1802), daughter of Count Heinrich von Podewils (1696–1760) and his wife Sophia Henrietta, born on May 18, 1767 von der Schulenburg (1714–1750), married. It was their third marriage. The marriage with Emanuel Friedrich von Bredow remained childless. Her fourth marriage was Johann Ludwig von Hordt , Lieutenant General in Berlin.
