Emanuel Linder (theologian)

Emanuel Linder (born July 31, 1837 in Muttenz , † June 19, 1895 in Basel ) was a Swiss Protestant Reformed theologian .

Life

Emanuel Linder, son of Emanuel Linder and Magdalena Messmer, studied theology in Basel and Heidelberg and graduated in 1860. Between 1860 and 1874 he officiated as pastor in Kilchberg BL , then from 1874 to 1878 in Winterthur . From 1878 until his death in 1895 he was pastor of St. Theodor in Basel.

Linder married Elisabeth Cäcilia Dängeli von Guggisberg (BE) in 1865 , then Anna Elsibaeth Baader von Gelterkinden in 1875 .

Services

Emanuel Linder was committed to social issues in questions of church politics. He published his proposals in the Religiös Volksblatt and the Swiss Protestant Gazette . He was also a co-founder of the Basellandschaftliche Reformverein .
