course
The Embentschime rises in the southern part of the Putorana Mountains on the eastern flank of a 1031 m high mountain. It flows through the uninhabited south-east foothills of the mountains in a predominantly south-easterly direction and runs through zones of the forest tundra in a valley of the Sywermaplateau . Finally it flows into the Kochetschum at a height of about 214 m .
Tributaries and ice drift
The numerous tributaries of the Embentschime include Chonogda , Tschurbukan and Korondotschana . The river is covered in ice from around October to the end of May . When the region's permafrost thaws and the ice and snow melt, strong floods often occur .
