Emil Gabriel Jula (born January 3, 1980 in Cluj-Napoca ; † August 22, 2020 ) was a Romanian football player . He played in the position of a striker .

Career

Jula began his career at Universitatea Cluj as a child . In the 1998/99 season he completed his first two first division games and was active in the Romanian second division for several years after relegation with Cluj at the end of that season. For the 2006/07 season Jula moved to the first division club Oțelul Galați , for whom he scored 31 goals in 65 league games.

In summer 2008 he moved to Energie Cottbus , where he signed a three-year contract. He made his debut for Cottbus on September 13, 2008 in the 3-0 defeat at Werder Bremen , and scored his first goal on November 29, 2008 in a 3-1 win at Borussia Mönchengladbach . At the end of the 2008/09 season he was relegated to the second Bundesliga with Cottbus. After his contract expired, Jula moved to league rivals MSV Duisburg on a free transfer for the 2011/12 season . On July 18, 2012, the MSV announced that Jula will be loaned to the Cypriot first division club Anorthosis Famagusta for one season . Shortly before the end of the 2013 winter transfer period, he terminated his contract with Anorthosis and moved to third division VfL Osnabrück on loan until the end of the season .

After MSV Duisburg's license withdrawal for the 2nd division , Jula moved back to his home country for the 2013/14 season to Ceahlăul Piatra Neam . In the summer of 2014 he returned to his youth club Universitatea Cluj, but moved again to Oțelul Galați during the season .

He returned to Germany in summer 2015. Jula joined the Lower Saxony state division side TuS Bersenbrück on, with whom he in 2016 in the league rose. There he ended his active football career in the summer of 2018, but stayed with the club as an assistant coach of the first team.

Jula died on August 22, 2020 as a result of a heart attack .
