Emil Leupold (born January 5, 1913 in Fürth ; † July 30, 1941 ), nicknamed "Hym", was a German football player .

Career

Leupold started playing soccer at FC Fürth and switched to SpVgg Fürth at the age of 17 . For the club he who from 1930 bis 1933 in the Football Association of Süddeutsche conducted championships in one of the regional top divisions, the Bezirksliga Bayern , point games. With five games in the North Group, he contributed to winning the North Bavarian Championship and, as a result, also took part in the final round of the South German Championship, from which his team also emerged as champions. In the two following seasons, the club had strong competition with 1. FC Nürnberg , so that SpVgg Fürth finished the two seasons in second place behind them.

From 1933 to 1936 he then played in the Gauliga Bayern , in one of 16, later increased to 23 Gauligen at the time of National Socialism as the uniform top division in the German Reich . Still sixth in the first season, he and his team won the Bavarian Gaume Championship the following season, which was secured by 1. FC Nürnberg in the following season. Due to the success he was qualified with the SpVgg Fürth as a participant in the final round of the German championship . The championship was held in four groups of four teams each, of which the group winners played the semi-finals. He played five of six games in Group D and finished second behind VfB Stuttgart . On his debut on April 7, 1935, his two goals decided the encounter in the first group game against 1. SV Jena 2-0. In the 1935 newly created cup competition for club teams for the Tschammerpokal , he was also used and scored six goals in three games. He crowned his debut on September 1st in a 5-1 first-round victory over Germania Fulda with three goals. However, his two goals in the round of 16 against Freiburg FC on October 27th were not enough to reach the quarter-finals, as Freiburg won 3-2 in Fürth.

From 1936 to 1938 he played for SV Waldhof Mannheim , for which he played 36 point games and scored four goals. At the end of his first season he won the Baden Gaume Championship with the team. In the final round of the German championship, he only played the round of 16 against PSV Chemnitz, won 1-0 on September 6, 1936, and the quarter-final, lost 2-1 on October 25, against 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 . A year later, he played five of six games in Group D and finished with the team in third place, which meant leaving the competition.

Returned to Mannheim, he played 29 point games until the 1940/41 season, in which he scored two goals. For SV Waldhof Mannheim he was only used on August 28, 1938 in the 2: 3 first-round defeat against 1. SSV Ulm in 1928 in the Tschammer Cup competition.
