Emil Wille

Emil Wille (born May 20, 1847 , † March 11, 1937 in Neustettin ) was a German high school teacher and historian . He researched and published on the history of the city of Neustettin and the Neustettin district .

Life

After completing his studies, Wille first worked as an assistant teacher at the Putbus pedagogy on Rügen and then in 1878 came to the Fürstin-Hedwig-Gymnasium in Neustettin . Here he worked as a high school teacher until his retirement; with the title of high school professor since the 1890s . He taught Latin and Greek in the upper classes , initially also German . He also gave music lessons and in 1879 founded a school choir, the Hedwig-Gesangverein, later called Hedwigia.

He researched and published on the history of the city of Neustettin and the Neustettin district . His fundamental work are the New Building Blocks for the Local History of Neustettin (1909), which tie in with the title of the building blocks for the Neustettin Local History (1879) published by Hermann Lehmann .

Wille was part of the committee that prepared the foundation of the Neustettiner Heimatmuseum from 1913, which opened in June 1914. Wille worked part-time as a curator for cultural and historical soil antiquities in the Neustettin district and ensured that numerous finds were brought to the Neustettiner Heimatmuseum.

In Neustettin, the Emil-Wille-Weg was named after him.
