Emilia Elisabeth Brodin (born Emilia Appelqvist on February 11, 1990 in Uppsala ) is a Swedish soccer player . The midfielder made her debut in the Swedish national team in 2014 and last played for the Swedish club Djurgården Damfotboll in Damallsvenskan .
Career
society
Appelqvist played in her youth for her hometown clubs Uppsala-Näs IK and Sunnersta AIF. In 2005 she moved to Bälinge IF . In 2007, at the age of 17, she received a four-year contract with Bälinge IF and was characterized by the coach as a future national player. After three seasons and the relegation of Bälinge IF to Division 1, she moved to AIK . When AIK was also relegated in 2010 , she moved to Tyresö FF . She won the Swedish championship for the first time with Tyresö in 2012 . In the middle of the 2013 season she was loaned to Piteå IF . After returning to Tyresö for two more games, she got a permanent contract with Piteå IF in 2014. She was active there until the end of the 2015 season and then moved to Djurgården Damfotboll . In the 2016 season she had 16 missions. In January 2017, she suffered a serious knee injury, so that she could not be used for the entire 2017 season. In March 2018, she announced that her comeback would be postponed because she was pregnant.
National teams
In 2009 she lost with the U-19 team, of which she was the captain, the final of the 2009 European Women's U-19 Championship against England, but was recognized by UEFA as one of the outstanding players. Sweden qualified for the U-20 World Cup the following year for the first time when they reached the semi-finals.
In 2010 she took part with the U-20 team, of which she was also the captain, in the 2010 U-20 Women's World Cup in Germany and was used in all four games. After Sweden had finished the preliminary round as group winners, they surprisingly lost in the quarterfinals against the Colombians, who were also participating for the first time.
She made her senior national team debut on February 8, 2014 in a 3-0 draw against France . In May 2015 she was nominated as the field player with the fewest appearances for Sweden for the 2015 World Cup. She was only substituted on in the second group game against the USA 15 minutes before the end of the game and was eliminated with her team in the round of 16 against Germany .
On April 8, 2016, she scored her first international goal in the European Championship qualifier against Slovakia, as did Stina Blackstenius . In August 2016, she was part of the team that won the silver medal at the Olympic Games. Due to her knee injury, she missed the 2017 European Championship.

Private life
In July 2017 she married her childhood friend, the Swedish ice hockey player Daniel Brodin and took his name. In September 2018 she became the mother of a daughter.
