Emilio Rosenblueth Stearns (born July 23, 1896 in Ciudad Juárez , † January 24, 1945 in Mexico City ) was a Mexican painter and draftsman. Most of his works are exhibited in the Pinakothek in Colima .

Life

Emilio Rosenblueth was born in Mexico in 1896. His father, Julio Rosenblueth Gutman (1863–1934), born in Kisvárda , was a Jewish-Hungarian immigrant; his mother, María Augusta Stearns, was of Irish-Mexican descent. One of Emilio's seven siblings was the physiologist Arturo Rosenblueth .

After Emilio Rosenblueth graduated in 1918, he worked for two years in a clothing store in Monterrey that belonged to his father. In 1920 he switched to the brewery business. He started out as a distributor and seller of the Cuauhtémoc brewery , first in Monterrey and later in Mexico City, and received positions in the management. In 1942 he left Cuauthémoc and became managing director of the Cervecería Modelo .

Rosenblueth received painting lessons as a child, but did not start painting again until he was 40. In the few remaining years of his life, he nevertheless created more than 300 oil paintings, hundreds of drawings and other paintings. His works were shown in a monographic exhibition in the Galería de Arte Mexicano in 1941 .

Rosenblueth was married to Charlotte Deutsch Kleinman (1899–1977), whose family had emigrated from Hungary to Mexico when she was two years old. He lived with her in Colonia Condesa . They had a son together, the engineer Emilio Rosenblueth .

In 1945 Rosenblueth died at the age of 49.
