Emma von Müller

Emma von Müller, Edle von Seehof , (* 1859 in Innsbruck , † 1925 in Munich ) was an Austrian - Bavarian genre and portrait painter and student of Franz von Defregger .

life and work

Little is known about Emma von Müller's life. She was a student of the genre and history painter and representative of the Munich school Franz von Defregger , as well as Ludwig Schmid-Reutte . Her excellent painting skills were so recognized that she was used to make copies of Defregger paintings. She gained fame through her psychologically sensitive portraits of young peasant girls in Austrian and Bavarian costumes.

Her painting Funny Stories from 1885 was published in the magazine Katholische Warte in 1889. Some of her genre pictures such as Guter Appetit or Visits from the late 1880s and early 1890s were exhibited in Vienna and Munich and reproduced in the magazines Daheim and Gartenlaube .

Works by Emma von Müller were shown at the Tyrolean State Exhibition in Innsbruck in 1893 in the department of artists living in Munich. Her painting Guter Appetit received the bronze medal at the artist exhibition in London's Crystal Palace .
