Emmanuil Gerschewitsch Ornstein

Emmanuil Gerschewitsch Ornstein , Russian Эммануил Гершевич Орнштейн even Emmanuil Georgijewitsch Ornstein , Russian Эммануил Георгиевич Орнштейн (* 1926 in Chisinau ) is a Soviet - Moldovan physicians , orthopedic surgeon and traumatologist .

Life

Emmanuil Ornstein attended the BP Haşdeu Grammar School in Chisinau, which became the Sergei Laso Middle School in 1940 . His father Gersch Abramowitsch Ornstein (the spellings Orinstein and Orenstein also appeared in the registers) belonged to an old pharmacist family and died in the Chisinau Ghetto in 1941 at the beginning of the German-Soviet War , while the other family members perished in the Transnistria ghetto . However, Emmanuil Ornstein managed to be evacuated from Chisinau to Bukhara beforehand, where he attended a boarding school. He then became a soldier in the Red Army , was wounded twice and came as far as Berlin .

Ornstein studied medicine at the Kischinau Medical Institute and successfully defended his candidate dissertation there in 1955 on the physical-mechanical properties of the forearm bones . He stayed there and taught as a lecturer . He has lived in New York City since 1993 .

Ornstein published works on the classification , semiotics and therapy of fractures of spokes in the classical place and on pediatric orthopedics . The Ornstein apparatus is used to splint broken spokes. The Ornstein symptom (1966) is typically used for diagnosis of broken spokes .

Ornstein is the cousin of the physicist Brigitta Pinkusowna Kowarskaja .
