Brigitta Pinkusowna (Petrovna) Kowarskaja b. Orenstein ( Russian Бригитта Пинкусовна (Петровна) Коварская урождённая Оренштейн * 7. March 1930 in Chisinau , † 7. January 1998 ibid) was a Soviet - Moldovan physicist and computer scientist .

Life

Brigitta Orenstein, daughter of the accountant Pinkus Abramowitsch Orenstein (or Orinstein, Ornstein) and his wife Bljuma Perezowna (Berta Petrovna) Manzowitsch, grew up on a lonely farm together with Samuil Dawidowitsch Tscherwinski , whose grandfathers were partners in a pharmacy. During the German-Soviet War , Brigitta Orenstein's maternal grandparents perished in the Chisinau ghetto , while Brigitta and her parents survived the war in the evacuation in Semipalatinsk and returned to Chisinau in August 1944. She concluded there secondary school No. 6 with a gold medal and then studied at the. Physico - Mathematical Faculty of the Moldovan State University in Chisinau with completion in 1952. In 1952 she married the physicist Viktor Anatolyevich Kowarski .

1952–1964 Brigitta Kowarskaja taught mathematics and physics at the middle school and at the technical college for trade and technology. 1964–1968 she was a lecturer at the physics chair at the Kischinau agricultural college and 1968–1979 at the Kischinau polytechnic. In addition, she was an aspirant of Isaak B. Bersuker's department of quantum chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry of the Moldovan Academy of Sciences and in 1969 she was a candidate for physical-mathematical sciences from Vilnius University with her doctoral thesis on electronic structure and the properties of square-planar complexes PhD. 1979–1985 she worked as senior assistant in the Department of Computer Science of the Institute of Mathematics of the Moldovan Academy of Sciences and 1985–1998 as senior assistant in the Institute of History of the Moldavian Academy of Sciences.

Brigitta Kowarskaja wrote the illustrated book Strick - und Häkelmuster (1986 and 1988), a register of periodicals and serial works of the Soviet Union on mathematics and the adjacent areas (1987), embroidery (1988 and 1989), knitting for children (1989), the textbook Physics in Tasks (1993) and the biographical-bibliographical handbook Academicieni din Basarabia şi Transnistria : A doua jumătate a sec. Brigitta Kowarskaja had two children with her husband Wiktor Kowarski, the physicist and electronics technician Evgeni (* 1953) and the pediatrician and neuropathologist Larissa (1958–1990). The medic Emmanuil Ornstein is her cousin.
