The residential building Empelder Strasse 1 at the corner of Badenstedter Strasse in Hanover, built in 1897 for Meierhof Pauling, now also serves as a studio for the artist Nigel Packham

The Empelder Straße 1 building in Hanover is a listed residential building from the late 19th century. The conspicuous building stands opposite the memorial to the victory celebrations of 1871 in what is now the Hanover district of Badenstedt and shapes the important urban situation in the arch of the then “new” main roads Badenstedter Strasse and Empelder Strasse . The 1897 built building with its richly textured brick - Verblendfassade belonged to the Meierhof the Pauling family. With the building, the large farmers demonstrated, on the one hand, their architectural need for representation. On the other hand, the structure also marked the then accomplished functional separation between the rural farm buildings and separated therefrom living area.

At the beginning of the 21st century, the British artist Nigel Packham set up his studio at 1 Empelder Strasse.
