The Empire Exhibition Trophy was a soccer cup competition played during the Empire Exhibition in Glasgow in 1938 . It was the third event of this kind after the tournaments in 1888 and 1901. The competition, which was directed by the Scottish Football Association, began on May 25, 1938 and ended with the final on June 10, 1938 at Ibrox Park in Glasgow. Four clubs from England and four from Scotland took part in the competition. The competition took place in knockout mode and consisted of the 1st round, the semi-finals and the final. Celtic Glasgow and Everton FC faced each other in the final . Celtic won the final 1-0 with a goal from Johnny Crum . The trophy was presented by the Earl of Elgin .
