Johnny Crum , a native of John Crum (born January 1, 1912 in Glasgow , † July 6, 1969 in Hyndland ) was a Scottish football player . In his playing career, he won the Scottish Championship twice and the Cup once with Celtic Glasgow .

Johnny Crum was born in Glasgow in January 1912 . In his main job he worked as a railroad worker. He began his football career in his hometown with the clubs Maryhill Hibernians and Ashfield Juniors . In February 1932 he came to Celtic Glasgow . On October 22, 1932, the 15th match day of the 1932/33 season , Crum made his debut at the age of 19 for Celtic against FC Motherwell . In the 4-1 win at Paradise , Crum was able to excel twice as a goalscorer. In the further course of the season he came to two more appearances against FC St. Mirren and Partick Thistle , but without having scored a goal. At Celtic he was built to succeed Jimmy McGrory , who was about to end his career and ended it in 1937. As a regular player won Crum with Celtic in the seasons 1935/36 and 1937/38 , the Scottish Cup and in 1937 the Cup . In 1938, Crum scored the winning goal at the Empire Exhibition Trophy . Johnny Crum played for Celtic from 1932 to 1942 in 299 games (189 league games) and scored 124 goals (74 league goals) before moving to Greenock Morton in August 1942 . After retiring in the 1940s , Crum worked as a salesman at the Neil Foleys sports shop in Glasgow. He died at his home in Hyndland in 1969 at the age of 57 .

National team

Johnny Crum played once for the Scottish national team in 1936 and 1938 . He made his debut for the Bravehearts on April 4, 1936 at London's Wembley Stadium in a 1-1 draw with England . With the Scottish national team, Crum won the British Home Championship in 1935/36 and 1938/39 .
