The Endkopf (also Endkogl or Jåggl , Italian Cima dates , 2652 m slm ) is a summit in the South Tyrolean Vinschgau and lies in the far west of the Ötztal Alps . The striking, table mountain -like mountain rises on the east side of Lake Reschen above the entrance to the Langtaufer valley and is mostly made of limestone . It forms the end point of the side ridge of the Planeil mountains that branches off to the northwest from the Mittereck .
route
The easiest climb leads from Graun first around the west side of the mountain to the Grauner Alm . From there, a trail leads a little further to the east, then the south flank of the mountain is climbed in a north-westerly direction and the Jågglscharte is reached, which separates the main peak from the secondary peak, known as the Hengst ( 2613 m slm ). From the saddle you can reach the summit in a few minutes in a westerly direction over the rugged , rather steep slope. Another, easier route leads from the southern to the northern end of the saddle and then west over a moderately steep slope. This path was signposted and marked by the AVS . The cross is not at the highest point, but further west in a position that is clearly visible from Lake Reschen.
Surname
The name Endkopf is derived from the end of the corridor at the foot of the mountain opposite Pedross in Langtaufers . The name Jåggl (a local form of the personal name Jakob ), on the other hand, indicates that grazing in the mountain meadows on the summit plateau began around Jakobi at the end of July .
