The Energie-Betriebskrankenkasse ( Energie-BKK ) is a company health insurance fund that is open nationwide with its head office in Hanover and the statutory health insurance provider in Germany. It has been providing access to medical care for over 60 years. The health insurance company operates nine service centers nationwide and looks after 100,000 insured persons and 20,000 employers.
history
The BKK has its origins in companies in the energy and telecommunications industry. It was founded in 1996, a result of the merger of the company health insurance funds HASTRA (Hanover), PESAG (Paderborn), PreussenElektra (Hanover) and SCHLESWAG (Rendsburg). In 1997 the merger with BKK VKR (Gelsenkirchen) followed, in 1998 with BKK EAM (Kassel) and BKK Elektromark (Hagen), 2000 with BKK HEW (Hamburg), 2001 with BKK Bayernwerk (Munich) and in 2016 with E .ON company health insurance fund (Essen).
Board of Directors and Board of Directors
Energie-BKK is a public corporation with self-administration and is subject to the legal supervision of the Federal Insurance Office. The executive body is the honorary board of directors. This is composed equally of 15 insured and 15 employer representatives from the partner companies. Important tasks of the board of directors include the election of the full-time board of directors, the examination and approval of the annual accounts and budget, and the discharge of the board of directors.
The Energie-BKK is managed by Frank Heine (board member) and Tobias Mittmann (deputy board member).
Contribution rates
Since January 1, 2009 the contribution rates have been standardized by the legislator. The additional contribution for individual health insurance companies was 1.1 percent from 2016 to 2019. In 2020 the additional contribution rose to 1.46 percent.
Services
The Energie-BKK has created incentives for healthy behavior that go beyond the legally guaranteed standards and takes into account different life situations with additional offers for preventive health care or early diagnosis, for families, for alternative healing methods or a bonus program.
