Franz Engelbert Alexander Freiherr von Landsberg-Velen and Steinfurt (born March 10, 1796 in Münster , † February 24, 1878 ibid) from the noble family of the Lords of Landsberg was a Prussian politician.

He was the son of Paul Joseph Freiherr von Landsberg-Velen and Steinfurth (1760–1800) in Münster and the Theresia Countess von Wolff-Metternich zur Gracht (1765–1805) from Bonn . On January 20, 1829 he married Hermine Countess von Hatzfeldt-Trachenberg (* October 10, 1809; † February 24, 1889), the youngest daughter of Prince Franz Ludwig von Hatzfeldt zu Trachenberg (1756-1827) and Countess Friederike Karoline von der Schulenburg (1779-1832). Both sons were the politician Ignatz Freiherr von Landsberg-Velen and Steinfurt (1830–1915). Through this marriage, Hermione's sister Sophie became Countess von Hatzfeldt-Trachenberg , Ferdinand Lassalle's friend , his sister-in-law.

Landsberg-Velen-Steinfurt belonged to the Westphalian provincial parliament from 1830 to 1861 . In 1831, for reasons of foreign policy, he spoke out in favor of a unified Prussian parliament. Basically, he was a supporter of the constitutional movement in the pre-March period , but did not want to question the decision-making power of the crown. In 1845, he therefore rejected a renewed motion for a constitution at the provincial parliament. In 1847, Landsberg was a member of the Knights Curia of the United Landtag , while his brother Ignaz as a nobleman was a member of Mr. Curia. In 1856, Landsberg became a member of the Prussian manor house through personal appointment by King Friedrich Wilhelm IV . He was also the first president of the Westphalian Riding Club from 1835 until his death .
