Usage and events

Boats can be rented on the lake and you can fish in the lake. In addition to the hiking trails, there are also opportunities for mountain bikers . In summer the Engstlensee can be hiked as part of the 4-lake hike Melchsee – Tannensee – Engstlensee – Trüebsee. In winter, Engstlenalp is the starting point for ski tours and snowshoe hikes, for example to the Jochpass , the Schafberg or the Graustock.

Since the early Middle Ages, Engstlenalp has been an important base and transshipment point for mule traffic across the Jochpass. Every year a wrestling and alpine festival takes place on Engstlenalp .

Transport links

The Gental is a dead end , there is no through traffic. From Meiringen via Innertkirchen a post bus drove through the Gental to Engstlenalp until 2017 , but the connection was discontinued for cost reasons. The Alp can be reached by car from the road from Innertkirchen to the Susten Pass via the narrow road through the Gental. From the Wagenkehr restaurant, the Mühletal-Engstlenalp road cooperative charges a road usage fee for motor vehicles. A chair lift leads from the Trüebsee in the Titlis area over the Jochpass to the Engstlensee. The Engstlenalp can also be reached on foot via numerous hiking trails.
