Enno Haaks

Enno Haaks (born April 8, 1963 in Bad Segeberg ) is a Lutheran theologian and General Secretary of the Gustav-Adolf-Werk e. V. , diaspora work of the Evangelical Church in Germany .

Life and education

Born as the third child of the teacher Ernst-Udo Haaks and Rosemarie Haaks, Haaks grew up in Nusse , where his father was the principal of the primary and secondary school. After graduating from the school of scholars in Ratzeburg, he was a contract soldier in the German Armed Forces for two years before studying theology in Kiel and Erlangen . From 1991 he completed his vicariate in Pinneberg .

Working as a parish pastor

After his vicarage, he took over his first pastor's position at the Luther Church in Pinneberg in 1994 and set the tone in the community work there. In 2001, the family moved to Chile on and Haaks took over a foreign pastor of the Evangelical Church in Germany . Until 2009 he was a clergyman at the bilingual reconciliation church of the Iglesia Evangélica Luterana de Chile in Santiago de Chile, which was founded in 1975 by predominantly Germans. On January 1, 2010, he was appointed General Secretary of the Gustav-Adolf-Werk in Leipzig.

Gustav-Adolf-Werk

Haaks took over the management of the Gustav-Adolf-Werk (GAW) from his predecessor Hans Schmidt in 2010 . In his work he focuses on Christians in minority situations abroad, but also in Germany. In this context Haaks also deals with the processing of the history of the GAW, z. B. through participation in church history seminars of the theological faculty of the University of Leipzig , and is a co-editor of the GAW yearbook "The Evangelical Diaspora". A special focus of his work were projects for hard- pressed Christians in Syria , whose situation Haaks classified as particularly urgent.

Voluntary and social commitment

Haaks was a striker for the Heavenly Kickers until 2001 and was used in numerous charity tournaments.

In 2014, Haaks was one of the founding members of the Förderverein Philippus eV, which supports the concept for the conversion of the church ensemble of the Philippus Church in Leipzig . He is a board member of the Friends' Association and heads the Philippus Circle of Friends.

Since 2015 he has been a member of the jury for the community funding competition of the magazine Chrismon .

Several times a year Enno Haaks organizes the prayers for peace in the Nikolaikirche Leipzig on Mondays .

Private

Haaks is married and has three children.
