Enrico Millo (born February 12, 1865 in Chiavari , † June 14, 1930 in Rome ) was an Italian naval officer and war hero.

Life

After his training at the Naval Academy in Livorno , he served on various warships , including the first torpedo boats of the Italian Navy and the battleships Italia and Lepanto . As sea ​​captain , he commanded the cruiser Vettor Pisani in 1911 .

During the Italo-Turkish War (1911/12), Millo commanded an Italian torpedo boat squadron ( Spica, Centauro, Climene, Perseo, Astore ) with which he ran the Ottoman fleet and land bases in the Dardanelles on the night of July 18-19, 1912 attack. For this daring mission, in which his five boats were exposed to heavy enemy fire over 15 nautical miles, he received the highest Italian military medal and was promoted to rear admiral. In 1913 he was appointed Senator and Minister of the Navy in the Giolitti IV cabinet .

During World War I he commanded a. a. a naval formation in Brindisi and a naval command in Naples . After the war he became governor in Dalmatia .
