Enrico Pietromarchi

Enrico Pietromarchi (born May 31, 1934 in Rome , † December 22, 2015 ) was an Italian diplomat .

Life

Pietromarchi graduated from the University of Rome in 1957 with a degree in law .

In 1960 he joined the Foreign Service, which took him to Saigon in 1964 . Subsequent stations were Paris and Ankara , where he worked as a consul. From 1984 to 1986 Pietromarchi worked as a department head at the North Atlantic Council in Brussels. After becoming Deputy Permanent Representative of the Italian Government to the European Commission in 1989 , he was promoted to Permanent Representative in 1990, which he held until 1993. From September 1993 he chaired the committee to renegotiate the Osimo contract . From December 1993 to 1994 he headed the culture department. This was followed by assignments as ambassadors in Athens (1994 to 1999) and Sarajevo (1999 to 2001).
