Enrico Prampolini
Enrico Prampolini (born April 20, 1894 in Modena , † June 17, 1956 in Rome ) was an Italian painter , set designer and designer of stage costumes as a representative of Futurism .

Prampolini began studying painting in Rome in 1912, but soon had to leave the academy because he had turned against the institution of academies in a futuristic manifesto. A contact with Giacomo Balla in his Roman studio inspires him for futurism, and in 1914 he takes part in two futuristic exhibitions in Rome. With his manifesto Scenografia e coreografia futurista , his career as a set designer and designer of stage costumes begins. A meeting with the Dadaist Tristan Tzara in 1916 led to collaboration with this art movement. a. in articles for the Zurich magazine Dada . He also runs the magazine Avantscoperta together with the futurist Luciano Folgore . He works with the futuristic film artist Anton Giulio Bragaglia as a set designer for his films Perfido incanto and Thais , the latter being the only surviving futuristic film. He is also responsible for the stage design for Marinetti's play Antineutralità. His Casa d'Arte Italiana in Rome, founded in 1918 together with Mario Recchi, led to numerous international contacts. This includes his membership in the Berlin November Group , his contacts with Theo van Doesburg and his collaboration with the De Stijl newspaper , his acquaintances with Gropius , Mondrian , Klee , Kandinsky , Arp and Archipenko , and (after the war) with the artists in the galleries Neumann and The Storm . In 1923 he wrote the Manifesto dell'arte meccanica futurista , followed in 1924 by a manifesto on L'atmosfera scenica futurista , both manifestos deal with the futuristic drama and its presentation. From 1925 he spent several years in Paris, where he not only met Braque and Picasso , but also founded the Théâtre de la Pantomime Futuriste with Mario Ricotti . In 1930 he joined the Paris group Cercle et Carré (circle and square). Shortly afterwards he founded the Gruppo 40 and came into contact with the Abstraction-Création movement . In 1937 he returned to Italy and devoted himself to aeropittura , after the war he worked with informal painting.
