Ensemble Oberweserstraße
The Oberweserstraße ensemble is located in Bremen , Mitte district, Ostertor district , Oberweserstraße 16 to 21. The ensemble was created in 1898. The group of residential buildings has been a listed building since 1973 .
The short Oberweserstraße (formerly Weserstraße) leads in a north-south direction from Kreuzstraße to Osterdeich on the Weser . It was named after the upper reaches of the Weser between Hann. Münden and the Porta Westfalica ; there is also a former municipality of Oberweser that does not give its name .
history
In 1849 areas of the Ostertor district were incorporated and the citizens were given full citizenship of Bremen. It was reinforced after the lifting of the gate . The upper middle class now built here and displaced the less well-off classes.
In 1898 the villa of the merchant JL Egestorff on Osterdeich between Deichstrasse and Oberweserstrasse was demolished and the property was rebuilt; on Osterdeich with four upper-class row houses and in Deichstrasse and Oberweserstrasse for medium-sized businesses on significantly smaller plots with six residential buildings each.
The faced, two-storey, three-axle suburban houses from 1898 in the style of historicism are typical Bremen houses with saddle roofs , ornate friezes and gothic window crowns . Two somewhat more representative, higher houses (No. 20, 21) have an iron winter garden.
The house type Bremer Haus , which occurs frequently in the district , was built in Bremen between the mid-19th century and the 1930s. The basement as a basement , the deep building shape and the side entrance are characteristic.
The other residential buildings in the street are mostly two- and three-story and five-story at Osterdeich.
Today (2018) the houses are still used for residential purposes.
