Center of the forehead

The Stirn Ensemble includes the historically built-up area of Stirn , a district of the market town of Pleinfeld in the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district in Central Franconia . The ensemble is a protected architectural monument .

description

The ensemble comprises the center of the church village on the Keuperhöhe, which has been handed down since the 11th century . After the destruction in the 17th century during the Thirty Years' War and a village fire, only the Catholic parish church of the Visitation of Mary, rebuilt in 1652 and 1687, bears witness to the age of the village. The church dominates the village street, which is characterized by the reddish sandstone cuboid houses of the hop and fruit growers from the second half of the 19th century. These houses consist of one- and two-storey steep pitched roof buildings , some of which have still received their drying hatches.
