Forehead is part of the Pleinfeld market in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen with around 450 inhabitants.

location

The parish village is located in the Franconian Lake District in a wooded area, surrounded by hops and orchards at an altitude of 432  m above sea level. NHN . It is built on the southeast slope of a Keuperhöhe, about one kilometer northeast of the Großer Brombachsee and four kilometers north of Pleinfeld. Neighboring towns are Allmannsdorf , Hohenweiler and Erlingsdorf . The main streets of the village are the district streets WUG 18 and WUG 19 . The forehead is bordered by the forest meadows of fir and oak wood.

history

The place was first mentioned in the 11th century. During the witch hunt in the Eichstätt monastery , Elisabeth Bißwangerin and Margaretha Schandin, both from Stirn near Pleinfeld, were executed as supposed witches on August 29, 1532. After the destruction of the Thirty Years War and a fire in 1687, the place was rebuilt.

Before the municipality reform , Stirn formed the independent municipality of Stirn together with Hohenweiler , Mackenmühle and Prexelmühle. On July 1, 1972, this was incorporated into the Pleinfeld market.
