Eoghan O'Connell (born August 13, 1995 in Cork ) is an Irish football player who is under contract with Bury FC in England . He is the cousin of the Irish national rugby player Paul O'Connell .

Career

Born in Cork in 1995, O'Connell played for Avondale United early in his career in Ireland . In July 2013 he signed a contract with Celtic Glasgow . For the Scottish club, founded by Irish immigrants, he played until the end of 2013 in the Youth Academy and in the international round of the UEFA Youth League , in which he came to appearances in the 2013/14 season. For the first team, the midfielder made his debut in March 2014 at the age of 18 in the Scottish Premiership under team manager Neil Lennon on the starting line-up for the game against Ross County . After O'Connell had played for the professional team of Celtic in five league games until August 2015, he was loaned out to English third division club Oldham Athletic for six months in September 2015 . It was then awarded to Cork City and Walsall FC .

During the summer break of 2017, he signed a three-year contract with Bury FC .

In August 2013 O'Connell came to a use in the selection of the Irish U-19 against Norway.
